Licensing Information

Every Puzzlebox library is licensed once and yours for good. No royalties, no attribution, no cue sheets and no territory limits. Here’s what that means in practice, and which license you need.

Perpetual License

Purchase provides unlimited, lifetime usage across all media.

Frictionless Licensing

Publish without paperwork, no PRO registration or cue sheets needed.

No Territory Limits

Publish across any country or region without limits.

Team & Enterprise Licensing

For studio-wide access and multi-user licensing, reach out to our support team.

Which license do I need?

Single-User License

Included with every purchase

For one person: you. Use the sounds in as many projects as you like, and install them on up to two of your own computers, such as a studio workstation and a laptop. If anyone else will work with the sounds, they need their own license.

Multi-User License

For studios, teams and schools

One seat for each person who will use the sounds. To get a quote, contact us with your company name, the number of people and the libraries you need.

Start your message with “Multi-User License”. We’ll confirm in writing, and the license starts once it’s paid.

Developer License

For building a product with the sounds

For apps, plug-ins, instruments, hardware and anything else where people can get at the sounds themselves.

Contact us with what you’re building, which libraries you’ll use and how the sounds will be accessed. Start your message with “Developer License”.

What you can do

Use the sounds in your productions: music, film, TV, games, podcasts, advertising and live events, commercial or personal.

Edit, layer, process and re-pitch them however you like.

Keep backup copies for yourself.

Release your finished productions anywhere in the world, with no fees, no credit, no PRO registration and no cue sheets. Productions you’ve finished stay licensed for good.

What you can't do

Share, resell, sublicense or give away the sound files.

Use them to make sample libraries, sound effect libraries, loop packs or virtual instruments.

Build them into a product where users can reach the sounds on their own, unless you hold a Developer License.

Use them to train or test AI or machine-learning systems without our written permission.

Transfer your license to someone else.

Use them for unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent or offensive purposes.

Multi-User Licenses

For studios, companies, schools and other teams.

Each person who works with the sounds, whether employee or contractor, needs a seat. The number of seats is set at purchase.

Each person can install the sounds on up to two computers.

If the sounds sit on a shared server or drive, everyone with access needs a seat.

You can add seats at any time, and reassign a seat when someone leaves, as long as they delete their copies.

To get a quote, email support@puzzleboxaudio.com with your company name, the number of people and the libraries you need. We’ll confirm in writing, and the license starts once it’s paid.

REQUEST A TEAM LICENSE

Developer Licenses

If the sounds will end up inside something you sell or distribute, and the people using it can reach the sounds on their own, you need a Developer License. Each one is agreed in writing for the product in question. Sample libraries and sound effect libraries made from the sounds aren’t covered unless your Developer License says so.

Email support@puzzleboxaudio.com with what you’re building, which libraries you’ll use and how the sounds will be accessed.

TALK TO US

Common Questions

Are the sounds royalty-free?

Yes. All Puzzlebox Audio libraries are royalty-free for both commercial and non-commercial projects.

You can use them in music, film, TV, games, trailers, podcasts, advertising, social media, and more without paying any additional fees or royalties.

Can I use Puzzlebox Audio sounds in commercial projects?

Yes. Our licenses cover both commercial and non-commercial projects: music, trailers, film, TV, games, podcasts, advertising, installations, and more.

No additional clearance or royalties are required.

What am I buying, and do I own the sounds?

You’re buying a license to use the sounds, not the raw audio. Puzzlebox Audio keeps ownership of the original recordings, and you own the productions you make with them, within the license.

Can I modify or process the sounds?

Yes. You can edit, resample, and creatively adapt our sounds, as long as they are used within a larger production and not resold or shared as standalone files.

How many computers can I install the sounds on?

Up to two computers that you own or control, such as a studio workstation and a laptop, as long as you’re the only person using them.

Do I need to credit Puzzlebox Audio or register with a PRO?

No. No attribution, no PRO registration and no cue sheets.

Are there any restrictions on how I can use the sounds?

Yes. You can’t resell, share or give away the sound files, or make competing products from them (including, but not limited to, sample packs, sound effect libraries or virtual instruments).

You can’t train or test AI or machine-learning systems with them without our written permission, or use them “in the clear” (as standalone sounds, not part of a production).

You also can’t build them into a product where people can access the sounds on their own, such as an app, plug-in, instrument or device, without a Developer License.

Do I need a separate license for my team or company?

Yes, if more than one person will work with the sounds. Every license is single-user by default. A Multi-User License gives one seat per person, and each person can install the sounds on up to two computers.

Email support@puzzleboxaudio.com with the number of people and the libraries you need.

Can I build a product with the sounds, like a plug-in, instrument or app?

Yes, with a Developer License. These are agreed in writing for each product. Email support@puzzleboxaudio.com with what you’re building, which libraries you’ll use and how the sounds will be accessed.

Not sure which license fits?

Email support@puzzleboxaudio.com and we’ll point you to the right one.
